Consultation has concluded

The City of Welland's Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan is NOW complete. The Plan is a success due to all the people who engaged in this most valuable project and asset. Please review the Final Plan by clicking on "View the FINAL Plan" located to the right -->

The Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan will guide the City over the next ten years. Through research and public input, the Master Plan will examine service levels in all communities across the city and establish priorities. The Plan will confirm program, service and facility needs and will identify strategies to assist with implementation.

The Master Plan will be an actionable, working document that can readily adapt to change in community values and address emerging trends. It will assist the City and local stakeholders in making strategic investments to ensure a healthy community, improve the quality of life of residents, and encourage a strong economy and sustainable environment.

Public and stakeholder engagement is critical to developing a plan that responds to the unique needs of Welland and its communities. We want to know how you use parks, facilities, and services; as-well-as how we can improve public space and services for other generations.

    Thank you for reaching out to us regarding our Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan. The April 2nd open house will take place at Civic Square in the Community Room (60 East Main Street, Welland).

    Thanks for your interest in the Master Plan and highlighting the need for a coordinated approach! While there are certain projects that we have previously and approved as a priority through budgets and/or City Council discussions, needs assessments for the Master Plan will be carried out after we’ve had a chance to review community input. Those assessments involve determining how best to address parks, recreation and cultural needs in light of a number of factors, including planned/upcoming projects.
