To properly prepare for the future at the Cooks Mills Community Hall & Park, the City of Welland is conducting a needs study to determine what the community requires at this location and to develop a preliminary design of the park and community centre. The purpose of this project is to create conceptual designs that align with the needs of the community. These preliminary designs will serve as a foundation for the subsequent stages of the project, including detailed design, construction, and implementation.

The project has three main components:

  1. Conduct a needs assessment to understand the requirements and preferences of the community regarding park and community centre amenities, facilities, and activities, as well as their current and future needs.
  2. Engage and collaborate with relevant stakeholders from the City of Welland to gather feedback, input, and recommendations for the design options. Public engagement sessions will be held to gather information from the public and user groups of the facility and park.
  3. Develop conceptual preliminary design options that incorporate the identified needs and preferences.

At the conclusion of this study, a presentation will be made to Welland City Council for information and future planning.
