The City of Welland is considering relocating River Road playground based on community feedback. Moving the playground across the street would help protect the mature trees at its current location while creating a new natural parkette with a pathway and seating area.

The proposed new playground site would offer a more sustainable space with improved play equipment, landscaping, and park amenities. Planned upgrades include more benches and picnic tables, additional trees for shade, better accessibility, and trail connections to River Road Park’s open space.
