Municipal Best Practices: Community Grant Program

The City of Welland Community Services team is seeking feedback from municipalities across Canada that provide community grants. Municipal professionals who work for cities and towns are asked to complete the survey based on your existing municipal policies and practices. Some examples of community grant programs may include:

• Sport competition support: financial assistance for a local team or individual who qualifies for a competition outside the city, province, country, etc.
• Event support – financial assistance towards event expenses, etc.
• Activity support – financial assistance to participate in local recreation and culture activities
• Municipal fee support – financial assistance to participate in municipally run programs and activities
• Arts & Culture support – financial assistance for the creation, production, presentation and distribution of arts & culture
• Operating expense support – financial assistance for expenses related to the ongoing operations of a community resource
• Capital expense support - financial assistance for expenses related to the acquisition of a physical asset for use by a community resource
• Start-up support – financial assistance for any expenses related to a new program or initiative to support the community

This survey has been directed to municipalities across Canada to ensure a broad municipal response. The results will be used to update and enhance the City of Welland’s policies and practices. The survey should take approximately five minutes to complete.
