The Kingsway Road Reconstruction and Watermain Upgrade project is expected to begin construction in fall 2026. The planned work is outlined below.

Project location

Work will take place on:

• Kingsway from St. Clair Drive (rail crossing) to Erie Street
• Kingsway from 80 metres south of Forks Road to Talbot Avenue

Scope of work

Kingsway from St. Clair Drive (rail crossing) to Erie Street

Work in this area will include:

• Replacing and upsizing the existing watermain from Erie Street to St. Clair Drive
• Replacing water services from the new watermain to the property line, including new curb stops
• Replacing hydrants
• Upgrading the existing storm sewer system from Erie Street to St. Clair Drive, including a new storm sewer outlet, catch basins, and drainage improvements
• Reconstructing the road from Erie Street to the rail crossing, including new sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
• Adding a new pedestrian crossing on Kingsway at Erie Street
• Improving street lighting from Erie Street to St. Clair Drive
• Improving the railway crossing

Kingsway from 80 metres south of Forks Road to Talbot Avenue

Work in this area will include:

• Replacing and upsizing the existing watermain from 80 metres south of Forks Road to Talbot Avenue
• Replacing water services from the new watermain to the property line, including new curb stops
• Replacing hydrants
• Repairing trenches and restoring the surface
• Resurfacing asphalt in the affected northbound lane

Water shutdowns

Water will need to be temporarily shut off at times during construction to connect new services and the new watermain to the existing system.

Residents and businesses will receive advance notice of planned water shutdowns. During an emergency, we will try to provide notice, but this may not always be possible.

If your water appears brown or discoloured after a shutdown, run the tap until the water clears. If it is still discoloured after 20 minutes, call 905-735-1700 x3000.

Traffic disruptions and road closures

Traffic disruptions are expected throughout construction.

• Road closures: We will provide advance notice of planned road closures and have detour routes in place.
• Lane reductions: Lane reductions will occur throughout construction. Traffic control measures will be in place to help motorists travel safely through the construction area.
