Kingsway Road Reconstruction & Watermain Upgrade

The City of Welland is completing the designs for the Kingsway Road Reconstruction and Watermain Upgrade project. The project area has been split into two areas: Kingsway from St. Clair Drive (Rail) to Erie Street, and Kingsway from 80 metres south of Forks Road to Talbot Avenue. Construction is planned for 2025. Please see below for a description of the proposed works in each area. Additional information can be found within the presentation located in the Document Library.

Kingsway - St. Clair Drive (Rail) to Erie Street

  • Replace and upsize the existing watermain from Erie Street to St. Clair Drive
  • Replace water services from the new watermain to the property line, including new curb stops
  • Replace hydrants
  • Upgrade the existing storm sewer system from Erie Street to St. Clair Drive, including a new storm sewer outlet, catch basins, and drainage improvements
  • Reconstruct the full road from Erie Street to the rail crossing including new sidewalks, curb, and gutter
  • Add on street parking on Erie Street
  • A new pedestrian crossing on Kingsway at Erie Street
  • Improve street lighting from Erie Street to St. Clair Drive
  • Improve the railway crossing

Kingsway - 80m South of Forks Road to Talbot Avenue

  • Replace and upsize the existing watermain from 80 metres south of Forks Road to Talbot Avenue
  • Replace all water services from the new watermain to the property line, including new curb stops
  • Replace hydrants
  • Trench repair and surface restoration
  • Asphalt resurfacing in the disturbed lane (northbound lane)
