I live next to the paved entrance on Page Drive Welland. Regarding the proposed trail for walking the permimiter of the park and connecting all parks I have some comments and concerns. Has anyone actually visited the property during baseball season or when it rains a lot? I cannot imagine how this trail will be useful for anyone. It will be super annoying to the baseball games as it's already too close to the PAVED DRIVE entrance on Page for people entering the park from this entrance. When a Niagara College student enters teh park from Page Drive paved entrance the games usually have to stop to let the person in teh park. There would be NO room to walk the trail behind the the baseball diamond as this is where ALL the parents sit to watch. It's the only shade and there isn't enough room. If you need to walk, walk on the sidewalk. Walking in the park is only great in the hot sun. It's often wet due to poor drainage or clay that you get attacked by mosquitos. I feel it will be more annoying for the baseball games and on lookers of the baseball games having this path. Do you know this CLAY park does not drain? You cannot cross the park without getting wet feet for days after a heavy rainfall. The disturbance we get from crowds walking by when the park is dry is bad enough. if there is a trail system to accommodate going into the park even when its wet will be even more disturbing for all the neighbors. We are constantly cleaning up smashed beer bottles so dogs or children don't cut their feet. Also, I am curious if a trail system back there will require more maintenance people to clean the litter? Our neighborhood all pick up litter on the daily. As we have all witnessed city workers walk right by garbage and not pick it up. The paved path off page drive is in need of repair. The permanent garbage can is overflowed with dog feces on the daily and the smell is horrible. Flies are out of control since installing this can. The can is a great idea but the spot it is placed should be away from homes. I am NOT for a trail in this park. It does not need a trail. It needs better lighting more shaded areas and the drainage problem fixed and the grass kept trimmed on the park side along the residential homes to keep mice and rat issues down.

Have anyone ever discussed building a frisbee golf course along the trail system? I think it would something new and exciting to bring to the community. Not too people have considered playing it because the awareness is not there. I play, and when I bring it up in conversation, everyone says they would like to try it. I would love to help design the course and I know the perfect location. Chris Skinner skinwear@hotmail.com
