The City of Welland is undertaking a stormwater management facility cleaning and rehabilitation program to address three of the nine residential stormwater management facilities throughout the city.

Stormwater Management Facility Locations

  • Michael Estates
  • Towpath Village
  • Coyle Creek

Pre-Construction Activities

  • Fish and wildlife abatement, as per Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) permits to be completed by October 15, 2025
  • Wildlife exclusion fencing installed around each facility

Construction

  • Dewatering of each stormwater facility to permit construction
  • Removal, decanting, and disposal of accumulated sediment from each stormwater facility
  • Complete grading and retrofit works for each stormwater facility
  • Final landscaping restoration of each stormwater facility

Traffic Disruptions

  • Limited traffic disruptions expected for equipment and material loading/delivery
  • Two-way traffic will be maintained with proper traffic control measures during temporary limitations

Next Steps

  • Construction activities are expected to begin in November 2025, with completion of all three stormwater facilities by July 2026
