2024 Infrastructure Renewals - First Street
Welcome to the project page for the Infrastructure Renewals on First Street! This page is intended to provide residents, homeowners, business owners, and visitors with an overview of the reconstruction work, additional resources, and the opportunity to connect with the project team.
Scope of Work
This project includes the full reconstruction of First Street from Dover Road to Plymouth Road and the following work:
- replacement of the water and sanitary sewers, including laterals/services to property with new cleanouts and curb boxes at the property line;
- new road granular base;
- base and top asphalt;
- curbs and sidewalks;
- drainage and intersection improvements
Traffic Disruptions
Lane closures will be required during the installation of the underground utilities. Block-by-block closures may be required at times to facilitate the installations, but local access will be maintained. Notifications for driveway closures to be provided to affected properties by the Contractor in advance of closing.
Water Shutdowns
If there are unforeseen emergency water shutdowns, every effort will be made to notify you; however, notification may not always be possible. If you experience brown or discoloured water, please allow the water to run until clear. Should the water remain discoloured after continuous flow for greater than 20 minutes, please contact the City's water department at 905-735-1700 ext. 3000.
