Infrastructure Renewals – Margaret Street, Gadsby Avenue, Nye Avenue, and Northhaven Road

Subject to Council Approval, The City of Welland will be undertaking Infrastructure Renewals along Margaret Street, Gadsby Avenue, Nye Avenue and Northhaven Road. The proposed upgrades will include watermain upgrades, sanitary sewer replacement, storm sewer upgrades, road rehabilitation and new sidewalk installation.

Construction

• New watermain, new sanitary sewer, and new storm sewer on Margaret Street, Gadsby Avenue, Nye Avenue, and Northhaven Road.
• New water services installed to property line.
• Full road reconstruction of Margaret Street, Gadsby Avenue, Nye Avenue, and Northhaven Road including new curb and gutters.
• New sidewalks on Margaret Street, Gadsby Avenue, Nye Avenue, and Northhaven Road.

Traffic Disruptions

• One-way traffic with Flag Persons through the construction zones when permissible.
• Open to two-way traffic at night and on weekends/holidays when permissible.

Impacts to Private Property

• Topsoil and sod to be reinstated where disturbed due to construction activities.
• Driveway closures will be required during concrete works and while curing. Advance notice to be provided to affected properties.
• Driveways that have been disturbed due to the construction will be reinstated to match existing material.

Next Steps

• This project is expected to tender late May 2022, and pending Council Approval, construction start is anticipated late June 2022.
• Further notifications to be provided to affected properties prior to construction.
